Obama Claims Democratic Nomination

“After 54 hard-fought contests, our primary season has finally come to an end,” Obama told cheering supporters in a victory celebration in St. Paul, Minn., at the site of the convention that will nominate his Republican opponent in the fall, Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
“Tonight, I can stand here before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for the president of the United States of America.”

Obama, 46, of Illinois, hailed his Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, for having “made history in this campaign, not just because she is a woman who has done what no woman has done before, but because she’s a leader who inspires millions of Americans with her strength, her courage and her commitment to the causes that brought us here tonight.”
“Our party and our country are better off because of her, and I am a better candidate for having had the honor to compete with Hillary Rodham Clinton,” Obama said.

But after splitting the last two primaries of the election campaign with Obama, Clinton refused to give him the unalloyed victory he sought.
In a speech to supporters in New York, Clinton said it had been “an honor to contest these primaries with him” and declared that she was “committed to uniting our party so we move forward stronger and more ready than ever to take back the White House this November.”
But she emphasized that she had won more votes in primaries and caucuses than Obama, and she pointedly said she would “be making no decisions tonight.” Instead, she said she would consult with party leaders in the next few days to determine her next step.
Aides said that was a strategic decision to preserve her leverage to negotiate over policy disagreements and the possibility that she would join Obama’s ticket as the vice presidential nominee.

I think Clinton's just being a spoilsport. (Oh, just a note before you keep reading, I'm not here to impart my mature views to all of you, so words like 'dumbass,' 'just shut up', etc will be popping up in this post.)
Yep. I read an article about a week ago where a huge percentage of Obama supporters would vote for McCain if Clinton won, and vice versa. After all this, shouldn't Clinton try to bring the Democratic party together instead of refusing to concede defeat? She may have won the South Dakota primary, but Obama's clinched the number of delegates needed already.
I never really supported either one of them. Like on my facebook page, I support both Clinton and Obama, which lead to my sister lecturing me on being indecisive. Anyway, whoever becomes President, hopefully he/she can undo some of the damage that George Dumbass Bush has created over the years. Maybe my colleagues in Iraq will soon be left alone.

Its so funny that the American elections have interested most young singaporeans more than the Singapore elections.

American schoolteacher: Good morning, boys and girls. Do you know that Obama has clinched the democratic nomination?
Students: [cheering/gasping in surprise/falling of their chairs/etc]

Singaporean schoolteacher: Hello, children! Guess who won the elections? The-
Students: (in a united monotone) PAP.
Some smartass: Really? How unexpected! [gets sent to detention]

American schoolteacher: Yes. However, Clinton refuses to concede defeat, only saying that she will “be making no decisions tonight.” Meanwhile, McCain has critiscised Obama for _________, which I think is an excellent point to raise. Now...

Singaporean schoolteacher: Meanwhile, Chee Soon Juan has critiscised the Lee family about ___________ and has subsequently been put in jail. He deserves it, according to the newspapers. Now.. OI! Wake up!

My dog is glaring at me. He wants a back massage and I've been steadily ignoring him for the past hour. I better go now. King Bowser awaits.
